Guided motorcycle tour package: Langhe, Route des Grandes Alpes and Northern Lakes, 12 days

10 full days on the go in this fantastic, comprehensive and exciting 12-day motorbike tour between nature and art.

In western Italy’s Piedmont’and great lakes area plus the amazing French Route des Grandes Alpes.

A tour to the top of the Alps for motorcyclists who do not suffer from vertigo.

The tour starts with gentle curves through the landscapes of the rolling hills of the Langhe, Roero and Monforte (Unesco world heritage site) and reaches the French Riviera, where the Alps meet the sea. From there, our adventure continues on the legendary Route des Grandes Alpes and in the Mecantour National Park, exploring the  Italian-French Alps up to the Mont Blanc.

We will ride through the most important passes of the Italian-French Alps such as the Bonnette 2802 m (the highest in Europe), Restefond 2692 m, Galibier 2556 m, Izoard… with some interesting extras of fascinating roads between canyons and spectacular views all the way to charming and romantic Annecy.

From there we start the road back to Milan between the Mont Blanc, the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont (Unesco sites) and the beauty of the landscapes and Art Nouveau villas of Lakes Orta, Maggiore and Como, with spectacular views over multiple lakes. But that’s not all, the last day between Alpine passes and Unesco sites will also be very tasty, before returning to Milan.

Main technical characteristics of this exclusive motorcycle tour

When
This motorbike tour, which travels on top of the Alps between Italy and France and continues among the major lakes of northern Italy was scheduled in a single edition in August to ensure the best combination, for us motorcyclists, of weather and road traffic.

The tour and the covered area
This motorcycle tour focuses on discovering the north-west area of Italy and the Provence and Savoy lands in France. From Milan it rapidly reaches the amazing vineyards of the Langhe and Roero hills and reaches the sea at the Côte d’Azur at the foot of the Alpine arc. From there, except for some must-do digressions between gorges, parks and canyons, we will travel along the entire Route des Grandes Alpes all the way to the Italian border. Back in Italy, we will focus on discovering the Great Lakes Region of the north before reaching our final destination Milan.

Unesco sites along the way
This motorbike tour with its strong focus on fascinating roads and natural landscapes passes through four Unesco sites: Langhe and Roero, the Borromean Islands, the Sacred Mountains of Piedmont and Bergamo.

Climate and clothing
The tour takes place in the middle of summer, but also in the highest European mountains (above 2000 m), where the climate changes quickly and is often chilly. Therefore the temperatures often ideal for technical summer clothing may sometimes require a few extra sweatshirts and rain-proof clothing. Comfortable “normal” shoes and a cable with padlock to tie helmet and jacket to the motorcycle are the main things you need to be able to enjoy the visits along the route to the fullest.

A typical day ride
Typically, a daily motorcycle ride is of 190-270 km (120-170 miles). The motorcycle tour starts at 9.00 am and includes a stop every hour with activities, always optional, or just for pleasure. The day ends with refueling and arrival at the hotel around 5.00 pm.

Motorcycle rental
For this motorcycle holiday you can choose here from a large variety of Italian Ducati, Aprilia, Guzzi,  or BMW, Harley Davidson, Kawasaki… models for rent. Our advice, however, is to choose an agile and not too heavy bike for the challenging mountain roads. First come, first served.
